Recipe: Falafel

Today a guest has come to visit my husband. He brings tales of a tasty dish called Falafel. I must try it.

Ok, I have tried it!! It’s awesome!

My recipe might not be the traditional style, but it was so tasty, and here it is.

  • 1 can garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup frozen peas, thawed and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup frozen sweet potato fries, thawed and finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 heaping Tbls. ginger root, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 heaping tsp. graham flour
  • 1 Tbls. Veganaisse

I smashed everything together with a potato masher, and then divided it into 8 patties. We don’t deep fry anything so I just used a couple tablespoons of olive oil in a small skillet and got it hot enough to sizzle. I cooked each patty long enough to get browned on both sides. They did fall apart a little bit, but that’s probably my imperfect formula. I’ll work on it another day.

We had these lovely bean patties on tortillas with lettuce, tomato, fresh onion, and some thawed frozen peas (haha sounds funny). I also cooked some quinoa and curried tomoto sauce with some spice….it was all amazing.

I can’t wait to do it again!
